The Artist's Way: Our Winter Book Club Journey Begins
Our Founding Circle book club, month three.
This week marks the beginning of our second Founding Circle book club — and this time, we’re going deep.
Every season, we gather around one book that reminds you who the hell you are, and what you’re capable of. This quarter, we’re working through a classic that has helped millions of people reconnect with their creativity:
The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron

The Artist’s Way isn’t just a book you read — it’s a 12-week program you live. Cameron calls it “a spiritual path to higher creativity,” and what makes it different from anything we’ve done before is that it asks something of you every single day.
Two practices form the backbone of the entire journey:
Morning Pages: Three pages of longhand, stream-of-consciousness writing done first thing every morning. No editing, no censoring, no stopping. Just you and the page.
Artist Dates: A weekly solo excursion — at least two hours — dedicated to nurturing your creative self. Think of it as a date with your inner artist. No companions allowed.
These two practices, done consistently, create the conditions for what Cameron calls “creative recovery.” Whether you’ve always considered yourself creative or you’ve spent years believing you’re not, this book meets you where you are and gently (sometimes not so gently 😉) invites you to reclaim something essential.
For us, as a community, The Artist’s Way felt like the perfect winter journey: a book about returning to yourself, about believing your creativity matters, and about doing the quiet daily work that makes transformation possible.
Inside This Month’s Founding Member Email
Full Reading Schedule: how we’ll move through the 12 weeks together over the next three months.
The Core Practices: what Morning Pages and Artist Dates actually look like in practice.
Artist Date Ideas: inspiration for your weekly creative excursions.
Questions to Consider: prompts for reflection as you work through each week.
Passages That Stood Out: lines that shifted something in me.
Community Reflections: a space to share your own insights, breakthroughs, or struggles in the comments.
Each month, you’ll receive a new email to guide you through the program, plus space for reflection and connection as we grow through it together.
Alongside the book club, Founding Members also receive access to our monthly goal-setting + accountability call. On the third Saturday of every month (9am PST / 12pm EST), we meet for a one-hour call to set goals, reflect on what’s working, and hold each other accountable for the lives we’re creating. You’ll receive a reminder every month with the Zoom link and details.
The Founding Circle is where we move from intention to integration — taking everything we’re learning through Petal + Hearth and applying it together in real time.
🎉 One Year of Petal + Hearth
Today marks my one-year Substack anniversary, and I want to celebrate with you!
To mark the occasion, I’m lowering the Founding Membership to $89/year (typically $180) for 24 hours. This is the lowest it’s ever been, and I likely won’t do this again (until January 9, 2027 😉)
Founding Members get access to everything — all paid content, our seasonal book clubs, monthly goal-setting calls, and the community we’re building together inside The Founding Circle.
If you lock in this price, it’s yours forever. It will never change.
This is your moment if you’ve been waiting for the right time.
